SAP primary schools are primary schools that the Ministry of Education (MOE) set aside to promote “mother tongue” language and culture.
“Mother tongue” in Singapore refers to the official language that the government assigns to a Singaporean’s racial group.
The only SAP primary schools at present are ones that promote Chinese language and culture. These “Chinese primary schools”, however, accept students from all cultures.
The popularity of these primary schools in Phase 2A of the 2022 Primary One (P1) registration exercise ranged from 30% to 255%.
